Get Involved
There are diverse opportunities to get involved at the Neighbourhood as a volunteer, as a contributor or partner and occasionally opportunities arise to get involved with the governance of the House.
Volunteering
Riddells Creek Neighbourhood House operates purely with the support of a dedicated volunteer team. The House provides a number of opportunities to get involved in. We are always seeking volunteers to fill many different positions and we’d love to hear from you. Did you know you can even volunteer at the House as part of your Centrelink mutual obligation requirements?
We very much appreciate help from volunteers to assist in the office answering phones, following up with enquiries, taking bookings, working on special projects and events, helping in our beautiful garden and just being a friendly face to welcome our House users. Volunteering opportunities can be one off or ongoing.
We are currently actively seeking an office volunteer to support us for one day per week between 9:30-3:00pm. Please see the position description here.
If you’re interested in volunteering, please come into the House during office hours to speak with our staff or email our Community Engagement Manager Mary to express your interest and availability at engagement@riddellscreeknh.com.au For other local volunteering opportunities, visit our Skills Connect Project page.
Seminar Series
Each month we host a Seminar as part of our community Seminar Series whereby local people with interest or expertise in a particular topic volunteer their time to present an engaging Seminar for 60-90 minutes. This is a fabulous way for community members to share their experience and expertise with other community members and topics vary widely, according to the interests of the speakers. To find out more and/or to express your interest as a speaker, give us a call on 5428 7836.
Makers Cabinet
We recently installed a display cabinet at the Neighbourhood House to showcase some of the diverse handcrafted works of local makers. This is a great opportunity for local makers to showcase and sell their work locally, and for others to browse high quality, locally made items for gifts to self or others. To keep track of what is currently on display, follow us on social media where we update more regularly. You can find us on Facebook @riddellscreeknh/ and Instagram @riddellscreeknh/
Governance/Committee of Management
Our Committee plays an integral part in the direction of the house. Without the dedication of our committee, the house wouldn’t be what it is today. We are interested to hear from folks who may have an interest in joining our committee in the future. If this is you, please give us a call to discuss further on 5428 7836.
